In 2004, I discussed the idea of a new start up company providing rail transportation service with the Management at Cooper T Smith (CTS). It was viewed to be a good fit and would compliment existing services. On May 24, 2004 five of us arrived and started work in two rooms of the CTS Houston Office. My vision was for providing specialized rail transportation and there our name was born. Specialized Rail Transport (SRT) serves North America and looks to partner with Crane & Rigging Companies, shippers and manufacturers. The rail business can be challenging and I am satisfied with SRT focusing on rail as our area of expertise. Our experience working in the Crane & Rigging business makes SRT good partners for make seamless transport.

Today, SRT has 12 employees and four locations; Houston, Jacksonville, St Louis, and Tulsa. Thanks to the support of CTS Management, SRT has been able to grow and meet the needs of our customers. I am thankful to have my long time friends and co-workers Randy Gill and Bob Staples, whom I have worked with for 16 and 13 years respectively. Alex Loya is Vice President and Kelli Collins is Vice President, Sales & Marketing. They manage the daily details. The rest of the crew does a great job of caring for Customer's Business.

I crossed over from the Heavy Haul Trucking business to begin Rail in 1992. I had hoped to learn the rail business by flipping pages in the Yellow Book but learning really began once I began attending the RICA Conferences. (www.rica.org) Today I am the President of RICA and encourage everyone to explore the benefits of attending and meeting key people in the industry.
